From Classics to Space

People's Artist of Russia Nikas Safronov presented several works dedicated to space exploration at SPIEF 2026. The exhibition creates a sense of involvement in great achievements and helps preserve the memory of the heroes who opened the path to the stars and continue to develop the country through scientific discoveries that change the world.

At the entrance to the Expo Centre, forum guests are greeted by the monumental diptych “Pragmatic Dialogue - A Path to a Stable Future,” depicting Peter the Great and Yuri Gagarin. The two paintings symbolize a deep philosophical dialogue between great historical figures who changed the direction of human development.

The SPIEF 2026 venue also presents paintings dedicated to the exploration of outer space. Among the exhibits are portraits of people who changed the world and made a major contribution to cosmonautics: designer Sergey Korolev, founder of Soviet liquid rocket engine engineering Valentin Glushko, first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, and Valentina Tereshkova, the world's first woman cosmonaut.

A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to works that have traveled to space. Russian cosmonauts periodically take Nikas Safronov's paintings with them to the ISS, where they orbit Earth together with the crew.

Nikas Safronov's exposition at SPIEF 2026 became the starting point for a new major stage: as the artist announced, a “year of space” officially begins in his work, with new exhibitions and projects connected with the space industry to follow.
