The exhibition Beyond the Visible. The Worlds of Nikas Safronov to open as part of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk

July 10, 2026

The exhibition Beyond the Visible. The Worlds of Nikas Safronov will open as part of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. The exhibition will run from July 14 to 20, 2026, at the Vitebsk Concert Hall.

The first section of the exhibition is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. It includes paintings depicting monuments, memorials, and landmark places connected with the events of those years. As Nikas Safronov explains, the Great Patriotic War became not only one of the most important historical events of the twentieth century, but also part of the cultural code for all countries of the former USSR. The memory of the people's feat is passed from generation to generation through family stories, art, and architecture, preserving the connection between past and present.

The next section of the exhibition presents works created in Nikas Safronov's signature Dream Vision style. It is based on the union of classical painting and symbolism, while the artist uses special paint-layering techniques, combining highly textured painting with thin translucent glazing layers. Works created in the Dream Vision style are images and associations born in the mind when we are on the border between sleep and awakening. Here the familiar laws of time and space lose their force, and the viewer encounters a world that cannot be seen in reality, but can be experienced emotionally.

Then, from the world of dreams and fantasies, Nikas Safronov invites the viewer to step into the infinity of space. This step leads to the final section of the exhibition, dedicated to the exploration of outer space. Here the artist's works become a symbol of humanity's aspiration to move beyond the known, to explore new horizons, and to come closer to the mysteries of the Universe.

Most of the works presented in the exhibition were shown this year at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026). Admission to the exhibition will be free.
